It is hard to pinpoint one specific area of inspiration for the Ralph Lauren Fall 2013 ready-to-wear collection. With clear references to Parisian chic, old-world Russian glamour, and sailor-inspired ensembles this luxury fashion collection is a delightful mixture of some of our favorite trends. Posh and put-together, the outfits certainly contain that quintessential Ralph Lauren appeal along with one of our favorite fall looks: black on black on black. The mixture of dark hues coupled with Ralph Lauren’s sophisticated style results in a collection that blends Old World elegance and contemporary prep.

Luxury designer Ralph Lauren’s Fall 2012 Ready-to-Wear Collection is inspired by English fashion circa World War I. The fact that the soundtrack from Downton Abbey played when this collection was debuted on the runway should put any doubt to rest. Lauren’s latest line for autumn consists mostly of feminine menswear with a contrasting— but welcome— addition of black and gold evening gowns for after dark. Overall, the collection represents a distinctive style that clearly transcends time.

Italian designer Giorgio Armani has already dubbed this year’s London games the “most fashionable Olympics ever,” but we’ll let you be the judge. See which teams haves the most winning looks, and which ones fall flat … Team USA will greet the world at the opening ceremony for the London Olympics in classic Americana style by Ralph Lauren. Men will wear navy blazers with the Olympic team patch, along with red, white and blue neckties and white pants. Women will pair the blazers with a white dress or skirt and a scarf. The entire ensemble is topped with a French-friendly navy beret.

Born near Paris in 1943 to a modest family, he spent his childhood in Le Havre with his mother and four brothers. For his seventeenth birthday, his stepfather bought him his first Eastman Kodak camera. Demarchelier learned how to develop film, retouch negatives and began shooting friends and weddings.

In 1975, he left Paris for New York to follow his girlfriend. He discovered fashionphotography by working as a freelance photographer and learning and working with photographers such as Henri Cartier-Bresson, Terry King, and Jacque Guilbert. His work drew the attention of Elle, Marie Claire and 20 Ans Magazine.

Ambrosio is currently one of the Victoria’s Secret Angels and has modeled for brands such as Next, ArmaniExchange, Christian Dior, and Ralph Lauren.

Aside from modeling work, Ambrosio serves as an ambassador for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
