Formed back in 1927, Dawsons AV has proven itself as a leader in the audio-visual industry, having worked with major yacht builders to provide complete sound system installations. They’ve won for Best Marine Installation from CEDIA Awards numerous times and recently won again for their work on the 40-meter Imperial Princess from Princess Yachts. The tech company created a completely bespoke multi-cabin wireless system using a wide range of products that were specifically tailored for the yacht’s indoor and outdoor spaces.

A user-friendly Crestron iPad interface was created to give an intuitive level of audio control, enabling the captain to manipulate the surround sound system, lighting, and temperature within all cabins. Guests will also find controls within their rooms so they can customize their space however they wish. Denon iPod docks and Apple iPod Touch’s were included, as well as a Blu-ray receiver that’s paired with in-ceiling Linn 104/106 speakers and Velodyne subwoofers.

External areas are set up on different processors so everything stays in sync. A variety of Speakercraft speakers and subwoofers, driven by Dawsons’ IcePower amplifiers, helps give the Sky deck a clean sound. It even has a unique arrangement that uses an extra Crestron multi-room amplifier to allow for more flexibility. An outside removable television and an iPod controller allows guests to manipulate the Kaleidescape zone player.

With so much equipment, it was a challenge for Dawsons to fit it in the yacht without compromising the design and though they had some hiccups along the way, the entire installation ended up being virtually invisible to the eye.
